Proxemics
When is someone getting too close? What is the right distance to the other person in a certain situation? And how do we know that? In her performance, Salomé Mooij explores the proximity between us. Inspired by Edward T. Hall’s book «The Hidden Dimension», she practices relating to the other and the space between us through various proximities, distances and approaches. Sometimes this is a clumsy exercise, sometimes it is unintelligible, sometimes too loud, it stays too far away or comes too close, but one thing is clear: it cannot be done without the other.
Salomé Mooij works as a performer and interdisciplinary theatre-maker. Currently her artistic interest revolves around slapstick and clowning. When you enter a performance by Salomé, you enter an environment where she questions our usual way of (inter)relating. In 2023 she showed her one-to-one performance The Shelteratelier at auawirleben.
